The Chester Chess Congress was founded in 2006 by David Dickson. A keen enthusiast of promoting chess, he founded Caergwrle Chess Club and the Wirral League many years ago. Numbers of entries for this year's, 2008, congress are well ahead of last year and we are expecting a bumper turnout for our first year as an Open CongressThe club would welcome warmly, new members of all playing strengths. www.caergwrlechess.co.uk The first congress had good external sponsorship and was designed to give surpluses to charitable organisations. In this case two hospices received in excess of £1100 each. The venue at the extensive Cheshire View complex with its restauraunt bars and large crown green bowling centre is set in rural Cheshire and is ideal for the pursuit of chess titles. The Cheshire View website gives more details of this splendid venue: www.cheshireview.co.uk You may wish to enter another friendly North Wales chess congress organised by Rhyl Chess Club, usually in May each year www.rhylchess.co.ukThis page was last modified on Monday, June 30, 2008 11:04 Chester Congress 2006 JavaScript must be enabled to view images.
